Leaving the shores of Nigeria has been tagged “leaving for a greener pasture” which indeed it is.

  1. Immigration is one of the juices life has got in it. The wonderful feeling of people moving from place to place by every means of transportation is second to none. Nigeria is a blessed country with untapped and unutilized natural resources coupled with unfavourable government policy, which has waved a red flag to foreign investors.

There are several reasons for travelling out of the country, study, tourism, job opportunities, permanent relocation. I believe all other reasons are encapsulated in these. Whatever the reasons are, it is imperative one leave the nation following the legal and right path.

On the flip side, travelling outside the country has its cons and prone. We will try to focus on the positive side of it. They include

    1. Improve communication and social skills: One of the good sides of travelling is the improved shift in the way we express ourselves in all facet of communication. Apart from the fact that it brings about a good alignment in language proficiency, it also affects the line of thinking.
    2. Broaden the horizon: It is quite phenomenal how exposure to cutting edge technologies can ‘shapen’ one’s ideas and realities of life.
    3. Self re-discovery: Getting exposed, as earlier said, helps you re-discover yourself in a more safe, comfortable and friendly environment. A lot of people wallow in self-delusion and cannot find their way out of it. Some need to be cut the slack on their self-delusion, as it is induced by parental upbringing and environment.
    4. Quality Education: It is no news that life as a student in Nigeria could be miserable, as we deal with dilapidated infrastructures, poor teaching aids and “Not everyone is expected to pass the course” lecturers. On the other side of the world, it is a different ball game entirely. The facilities are world-class with success-oriented lecturers.

These are the few advantages of leaving the country to a “greener pasture”
