It is no more news that the government through the ministry of finance has ordered banks to block any bank account with no affiliation with the BVN. BVN was introduced to the banking system on the 14th of May 2014, it was not the order of the banking system until the government made it compulsory for all and sundry.

The sole aim of introducing the BVN is to reduce the rate of financial theft and fraud; corruption among politicians and wealthy Nigerians who are into illegal business. The BVN is a free-of-charge service in the banking industry; making it affordable to everyone.
