What type of food can help my brain perform better?

Taking care of your brain is a big deal and should be given attention to as other body parts.

Your bran, being positioned at the centre of your body, needs the care and attention it is supposed to get, seeing it is in charge of your heart pumping blood and beating, lungs gasous-exchange, which in all allows you move and talk.  Your brain needs to perform at its peak, as such, you need to pay close attention to its needs, neglecting none. The food you consume into your body goes a long way in keeping your brain healthy and help improve specific mental tasks, like memory and concentration prowess.

    Below are the kind of foods you should pay close attention to.

    1. Coffee: The main components in coffee- caffeine and antioxidants- are helpful in your brain in increasing your mental alertness, improving mood and sharpening your concentration. The fact that coffee is good for your brain is no yardstick to abusing the use of it.
    2. Turmeric: It is said that your curry has some contents of turmeric in them. However, do not go to consume raw curry. Adding turmeric to your meal helps your memory and information retention. It also eases you off depression (depression could result from a hormone being secreted from the brain) and supports the growth of new brain cells.
    3. Pumpkin Seeds: Otherwise known as “Ugwu” seed. Eating “Ugwu” vegetables can help in the production of Red Blood Cells. With that being said, pumpkin seed help prevent the brain from radical damage. It contains nutrients that the brain needs like Zinc and Copper (for nerve signalling), Magnesium (essential for learning and memory) and Iron (Helps your brain function well)
    4. Dark Chocolate: “The flavonoid in chocolate help the brain with efficient learning and memory”
    5. Nuts: “Research has shown that eating nuts can improve markers of heart health, and having a healthy heart is linked to having a healthy brain” Groundnuts, walnuts, Tigernuts are good examples.
    6. Oranges: Orange is rich in Vitamin C, which is healthy for the brain. Eating sufficient amounts of vitamin C-rich foods can protect against age-related mental decline
    7. Eggs: “Eggs are a good source of several nutrients tied to brain health” Egg yokes are the most concentrated sources of the nutrients your brain needs.
