Why should I give my time or money out?

This is an act of selflessness in the human race which must be given utmost attention with immediate alacrity.

  1. The Holy Writ has it that you do good whenever it is in your power. This is crystal clear enough, help when you can, to as many as possible. A handful of us subscribes to the school of thought that believes in helping those who would be of help in life. This is, relatively, a wrong perspective about life.

One needs to get to the point where you are moved with the precarious situations your fellow humans are going through. You need to have eyes full of compassion by swapping your stone-cold heart with a soft-warm heart. You need to make the difference. Enough of giving “my ancestors are tight-fisted” as an excuse.

You need to learn to give not because you have more than enough but you know what it means to have nothing. You need to also inculcate in you the act of giving not for getting back, but to put smiles on the faces of people. When you have this as a motive behind your giving, you would be less concerned with “what will I get in return if I help you?”

People are going through a lot, hungry stomachs, helpless situations, the least you could do is give the little you can in any way. So many are out there down with sadness, others are drowning in depression and they are in dire need of a hug, soothing words from you. Give it anyways.

Life is dishing out its share of vicissitudes to everyone who would care for a hug of “it is going to be okay Keep staying strong” You cannot afford to keep your cosy hand of friendship. Dare to make the difference in your little world. If you have the means, do not be tight-fisted. If you have the means, a word of encouragement can go a long way, most especially this lock-down period. A simple call, chat, a message would go a long way to help. Do not stop helping, giving a hand, rising to the occasion for others, even if it involves going out of your way.

Givers never lack – you may at one point be in need of what you have given out in the past, but you can never lack the future reward of what you have given. Keep giving. God gave, has given, and always give. You too can
