I woke up this morning, and found that my urine is yellow and I was a bit scared, I then had to find out from a Pharmacist, and this is what he had to say; there are many reasons why one’s urine can be yellow, in my case, it was lack of enough water, but i will list out other reasons why this could happen.

CAUSES OF YELLOW URINE

  • Jaundice: Jaundice is a condition in which the skin, whites of the eyes and mucous membranes turn yellow because of a high level of bilirubin, a yellow-orange bile pigment. Jaundice has many causes, including hepatitis, gallstones and tumors. In adults, jaundice usually doesn’t need to be treated
  • Lack of water: Water is an essential daily need of the body, this article says that Water carries nutrients to all cells in our body and oxygen to our brain. Water allows the body to absorb and assimilate minerals, vitamins, amino acids, glucose and other substances. Water flushes out toxins and waste. Water helps to regulate body temperature.
  • Malaria: Did you believe when you saw this? that malaria can cause you to have yellow urine. early recognition of warning signs in malarial patients allows timely identification of the patient at risk of severe malaria and provides opportune treatment. Jaundice and dark urine are frequent signs that can alert to the occurrence of severe malaria.
  • Drug: Excess drug in your body system can also cause your urine to be yellow. A number of drugs can darken urine, including the antimalarial drugs chloroquine and primaquine, the antibiotics metronidazole (Flagyl) and nitrofurantoin (Furadantin), laxatives containing cascara or senna, and methocarbamol — a muscle relaxant. it is important to be in health and stay away from drugs as mush as possible
  • Vitamin B-complex: This is a common cause that many people are unaware about, but it is easy to spot being that the tablet itself is yellow. Bright yellow urine is common when taking a vitamin B complex, specifically due to the B2 vitamin, also known as riboflavin. In fact, “flavin” comes from the Latin “flavus” which means yellow. So don’t ditch your daily vitamins yet—they’re actually a vital part of maintaining your overall health

I recently wanted to execute a cron job to run an sql file in a shared hosting website. In my case, I wanted to reset by database every hour and everyday for a demo website. There are two methods to achieving this;

  • Using the cron job from the cpanel
  • Using an external service to run the cron job for you

METHOD 1

I learnt from this task that running the sql file directly from the cron job is not so efficient. In fact, in my own project, it didn’t work. Therefore, I changed my method. I wrote the script in a php file calling the sql file, while the cron job calls the php file, because it is more convenient that way. Though, if you just want to run a php script, it can be passed to the cron job in the cpanel and hopefully, it works for you.

In the cron job on the cpanel, there is a guide in order to use it properly. For example

/usr/local/bin/php -f /home/(username)/public_html/nameofthefile.php

<?php

$con = mysqli_connect('localhost', 'username', 'password');
if (!$con) {
    die('Could not connect: ' . mysqli_connect_error());
}

$sql = 'DROP DATABASE db_name';
if (mysqli_query($con, $sql)) {
    //echo "Database db_name was successfully dropped\n";
} else {
    echo 'Error dropping database: ' . mysqli_connect_error() . "\n";
}
$createsql = 'CREATE DATABASE db_name';
if (mysqli_query($con, $createsql)) {
    //echo "Database db_name created successfully\n";
} else {
    echo 'Error creating database: ' . mysqli_connect_error() . "\n";
}

$mysql_host = "localhost";
$mysql_database = "db_name";
$mysql_user = "username";
$mysql_password = "password";
# MySQL with PDO_MYSQL
$db = new PDO("mysql:host=$mysql_host;dbname=$mysql_database", $mysql_user, $mysql_password);

$query = file_get_contents("file.sql"); // calls the sql file here

$stmt = $db->prepare($query);

if ($stmt->execute()) {
    echo "Success";
} else {
    echo "Fail\n";
}

then you select the timing you need for this job to run for.

METHOD 2

In my case, this file above didn’t work on the server, but worked on the localhost which was really surprising. The PDO part of the code, didn’t work to be precise, so initially I thought my shared hosting service didn’t enable PDO for my php version which was 7.3 at that time, after confirmation that it was enabled, I then knew I had to find an alternative to the cron job issue. After much researching, I found google cloud platform (serverless computing — not free) so I couldn’t use it, I then found another online service- webcron that could do this. I registered and configured for what I needed. The only major thing you need to supply is the url.

Therefore, i just supplied https://domain-name.com/nameoffile.php. and BOOM, it worked as I expected.

Matthew, like many other regular guys I know, has a 8-5 job. He gets up as early as 6.30am to get dressed for work so that he can beat the early morning crazy Lagos traffic, works so hard in a commercial bank every day, yet his regular income can barely last him through the first three weeks of the month, let alone save part of it. He was concerned and he knew he had to do something about the situation really fast in order to earn extra every month

Many of us find ourselves in such financial dilemma and often times resort to dubious means to make more money quickly. What if there are other legitimate means of achieving the same goal, or other ways to earn extra income wouldn’t that be better? To be honest, this post is not another motivational talks or post to steer you up but leaving you with the FACT, so let’s face the facts. To earn extra N20,000 every month, you’ll need to invest in some businesses first; I usually refer to them as RENTALS BUSINESS

RENTALS

  • Rentals: If you buy a motocycle (the one popular called Okada in Nigeria) and lease it out to someone who can ride and is faithful, N20,000 in a year profit will be N240,000. To obtain a new motocycle is about this price or less. Think about this. This is just one of the many examples of businesses you can do in terms of rentals. Others include
    • House rentals
    • Land rentals for farming
    • Equipment rentals
    • Gaming console rentals

Most importantly, do the feasibility study properly to ensure that you are not making loss in the long run, BUT , there are some soft businesses you can do that don’t require much capital and yet you can still earn extra every month up to N20,0000. Some of which are:

  1. Blogging: Owning a blog is big business these days in Nigeria, thanks to the likes of Linda Ikeji who started very early exposing many of us to it. For those who don’t understand, blogging is simply an art of writing short articles about various sources of interest and publishing it online. These articles could be about lifestyle, health, finance like the one you are reading now, games etc. All you need is a computer, phone, laptop or tablet. You can start blogging within minutes, thanks to CMS like WordPress, Joomla and other blog platforms and there are numerous articles on the web about how to start a blog. You earn money from blogs when you have a lot of visitors. Advertisers see your visitor counts and can pay you a lot of money just to have their ads on your blog. A lot of popular bloggers earn between N20, 000 to N500k per month.
  2. You have a skill, Use it: Individuals and companies always need some form of service every now and then. It could be laundry, taxi, cleaning, teaching, coaching, braiding, public speaking etc. Making money from a service depends on the type of skill you have and how much people are willing to pay for it. For example, if you are good with playing the piano, you could coach your friend’s or neighbour’s kids on how to play the piano. With the help of technology now, there are online platforms that also connect tutors with students, like Tuteria.
  3. Buying and selling: This involves petty trading of consumer goods. It’s time tested and still works quite well for many people. It is often better to start by selling things you are used to or you could do a small survey/research to find out what people need around your area. For example, if you live in a developing new site, businesses like selling sachet water, snacks, food items would move faster. It could also be dresses, shoes, smart phones, tablets that you sell.
  4. Be an agent: Agency jobs involve providing unique services for organizations, they could include schools; for example referring students to a school to enrol. Also, you can be an agent for importing and exporting goods. You need to have a license to clear products at the ports. Another form is selling air tickets to people or helping people book flights. People who don’t have such licenses can even rent them from you providing an extra source of income.
  5. Work Weekends or On off days: If you have the strength to work an extra day or two then why not try working on weekends for a few extra hours. You can take an extra job in places where weekend jobs are needed. Jobs in this category include ushering jobs, hotel, clubs and restaurants, teaching, singing, dancing etc.

The list is definitely not exhausted yet, there are still many more ways to earn extra every month for as long as you are willing to do the extra work.

Avoiding common money mistakes can save you hundreds of thousands of naira/dollars, if not millions, throughout your entire life. Majority of the battle we tend to have is centred around how best to use your money.

  • Mistake #1: Rethink your Spendings — Common money mistakes that affect your money and capacity to be rich, plays a significant long time role in diverting your spendings to insignificant expenditures. If left unchecked would keep you financially constrained, so take action! Saving that minute #5 buying store-brand cereal instead of buying the biggest brands won’t make a difference. Instead, take out time to study stock and learn about the best interest rates or hottest stocks right at the moment that could yield short term and long term dividends. You can also subscribe to automatic saving packages and investments. Then allow your money to grow gradually.
  • Mistake #2: Relying on willpower — Several people rely on willpower to restrain themselves from dining out or purchasing new outfits. Even if you take those extreme measures, at the end of the day it is insignificant. That #1,500 at the end of the year is irrelevant unless invested the money.
  • Mistaking #3: PROCRASTINATIONProcrastination devalues your money, so invest! And starting as early as possible is the easiest pathway to financial freedom. As a 25-year-old, if you invest $100 each month for 10 years at an 8% interest rate, their account will be worth $200,061 by the age of 65. If your colleagues start investing $100 per month at age 35 for 30 years, their account statement would be $149,036 at age 65. Although the second person made contributions for 20 years running, they still achieved a sum $50,000 less because they later than the first person who kicked off from age 25.

Many financial decisions we make most times are largely influenced by habits, trends and peer pressure but a smart person would consciously discipline himself/herself to invest in only things that will be beneficial even if it means postponing that trip, going for less expensive brands etc. All these constitute good financial habits

All those seemingly insignificant financial adjustments you make determine your financial health. Those small decisions alter turns into bad choices add up to debt, regret, and major issues in the long run.

It is never to late to become conscious about your financial health and prioritize necessities over wants.

1. Learn to Set a Budget

First take out your fixed expenses [e.g rent, phone bills, taxes etc] as soon as your income arrives. This will help you know the directions of your expenditure.

When you have done all these and there is money left, allocate at least 20% of the general sum to savings and investment and adequately plan the days and weeks with whatever is left.

2. Always GIVE ROOM for Second Thought.

When you find yourself about to make an unbudgeted spending or overshoot on the price of the commodity, take a second to reconsider . At the very least, it is essential to build up a restraining habit to avoid impulsive spending.

3. Use AUTOMATED Saving Platforms

Set out a certain percentage from the point salary enters. Platforms such as Piggy Bank or V Bank

You can activate automatic saving at a certain time in the month, or opt for longterm money lock savings plans. Ideally, you will need to consider having a pension plan for retirement money.

4. Always Make Use of Scale of Preference

Nearly everyone has the urge to make an impulse purchase. That could be a little as a portion of emergency food. Consider whether each regular purchase you make makes gives you happiness. If it doesn’t, and you’re just buying out of impulse, consider overlooking the purchase and spending the money for something else.

5. Develop the Habit of Saying No with Ease

It’s OK to say No or enquire about the availability of an alternative. Sometimes spending money simply because we don’t to look inferior to our friends, family, and colleagues is a bad step to tow.

Dont feel obligated to always do what your colleagues are doing even if its in gathering. That family vacation could be postponed as well if you see it will cause a strain to your pockets. Spending money to keep up appearance is a very bad habit that should be curbed.

If you want to be a successful blogger, Youtube influencer, really it doesn’t matter if you are trying to grow your blog online in 2020, you have got your work cut out for you and I know it’s so easy to look at those successful influencers right now and think that they’re an overnight success that it came easy to them and if you just put in a couple months worth of work you’re going to be that successful but the truth is it often takes people a lot of years and a lot a hard work to grow their brand online to get that large following.

So let’s talk about how you can cut through the noise, how your content can be found because there are so many content creators here online trying to be found just like you so how can you be found and how can you grow your blog online? I really want to talk about what made the biggest difference for me when it came to growing my blog so if you are ready to get started let’s just go ahead and get into it.

Some tools that are necessarily important for you are

  1. Pinterest: my best and my biggest platform is Pinterest. Pinterest is very unique in that the Pins can drive traffic back to your website/ blog/youtube channel as the case may be which can help to grow your blog online and I have to say on all of those platforms I had to start from zero, I started from the bottom and I worked my way up. I really wish that I had these tips to make a big difference and propel my blog in the right direction a lot sooner that I did.
  2. Facebook: Facebook is the biggest social media platform today that can help you grow your blog faster, you already know that. With facebook, you can make post and include links back to your website/blog. You can also post on your blog and share directly to facebook. If you use popular content management systems such as WordPress, they easily help you with plugins to do this.
  3. Canva: Canva has been a very helpful tool to create stunning designs that you can post on facebook, instagram or Pinterest to help drive your traffic. With thousands of templates to work with, the job is really easy.

WHAT’S YOUR CONTENT NICHE?

Let’s start by talking about content because that’s really how you’re going to grow your blog online and be found, that’s really how you’re going to grow your audience and the first type I’ll give you guys is to create more content. When I first got started with my blog I was only launching one blog post a week and I was sharing a few Instagram photos a week and that was it, but today that has changed and the numbers are definitely showing for it. I honestly believe that quantity is better than quality, if you want to be a successful blogger you can’t worry about creating the best content from the very beginning because your first 100 posts or videos are going to be crap you’re not

It is also important to understand what your audience is searching for and the right keyword phrase to include within your content to make sure that you are found, but beyond keyword research I really had to step into my audiences shoes and think about what they are searching for what are some beginner. if you’re a blogger launching those blog posts every single week, those are the tasks that you need to do just to keep your brand alive, those are not the tasks that are actually going to grow your brand so when you over serve the time to work on those, start thinking of the bigger picture, things that are actually going to push your blog and brand forward just like those collaborations. That’s not a typical thing that you need to maintain your blog but it’s something that you need to grow your blog so when you reserve time for those projects as growth you are actually going to see
growth.

Lastly, you need to join facebook groups, you need to interact with more people on Instagram but for me honestly what I learned is how to bed manage my time and feed my days to be as productive as possible. I was able to get the stuff done that I needed to do just to grow my blog online, I was also able to get it done so much faster and reserve time for those future projects and for that marketing and for that automation. You need to then start creating PAID PRODUCTS which will ultimately make you more money. THIS IS THE GAME CHANGER.

It’s not shocking that even when people go to the toilet in our technologically obsessed society they use their phones. A 2016 study found that more than 80% of Africans use their phone in the toilet and Sony found that the figure for Americans was close to 75%. Although this might look clever, a GP says that, if you take your device with you wherever you go, you are really at risk for your health.

There are water and air particles contained on the telephone’s little plunge, and phone covers and cases are usually rubber, a warm and convenient harbour for bacteria. Such bacteria include salmonella, E. coli, shigella that can make you extremely sick. You can also spread viruses like gastrointestinal and staples, which can be transmitted easily from solid surfaces, such as your phone.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PHONE TO THE TOILET

Even if you don’t use the phone in the toilet, you still keep it while in and out of the bathroom, so it’s enough to put bacteria on your phone, if you haven’t been washing your hands or done so after exiting the bathroom.

Because many people also use their phone when they eat and many infections are transmitted through their mouth, this also increases the risk of becoming ill from bacteria on your phone.

So what can you do to mitigate this risk of infection propagation and illness?

First and foremost, don’t take the phone into the bathroom and try not to do it while you eat.

  • It’s also a good idea to disinfect your phone on a regular basis particularly when you used it in the bathroom.
  • You can buy specific sprays for clean touchscreens and a protector screen can help.
  • Wash your hands regularly, particularly when you leave the bathroom or touch a smartphone.
